Each Radiant Precicom worm gearbox is designed in SolidWorks and toolpathed in MasterCAM, with a bronze worm wheel and EN24 hardened ground worm to maximise efficiency and service life. Custom ratios, mounting flanges, and housing configurations make these gearboxes suitable for valve actuators, lighting systems, and general industrial drives.

Typical Applications
Manufacturing Process
Design in SolidWorks
Gear ratio, centre distance, lead angle, and efficiency calculated; 3D model and drawing created with GD&T
Worm Shaft Machining
EN24 worm shaft rough-turned, thread milled on CNC, hardened to HRC 55–60, then ground to Ra 0.8
Worm Wheel Casting & Hobbing
Phosphor bronze worm wheel blank cast or sourced; hobbed on gear hobbing machine to module and tooth form
Housing Machining
Cast iron or fabricated steel housing bored on VMC to bearing bore tolerances (H7); mounting faces machined
Assembly & Run-in
Bearings fitted, worm/wheel meshed and backlash set per drawing; oil-filled and run for 2 hours at rated speed
Efficiency & Noise Test
Input/output torque measured to confirm efficiency; noise level checked; oil temperature monitored
Standards & Compliance
AGMA 6034
Worm Gear Rating Standard
Rating and geometry for cylindrical worm gearing
